Moore Park Pool and Bathhouse Cornerstone Collection
Scope and Contents
The Moore Park Pool and Bathhouse Cornerstone Collection includes project specifications and instructions to bidders; bulletins issuing revisions to the contract; and two drawings, one showing the location of the cornerstone and another showing the design of a P.W.A sign. The collection also includes a union card belonging to Edwin Hansen (superintendent of the project); a list of employees working at Moore Playground on Feb. 12, 1940; and a copy of the Feb. 12, 1940 edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Biographical / Historical
The Moore Park Pool and Bathhouse Cornerstone Collection consists of items that were included in a time capsule within the cornerstone of the pool building on Feb. 12, 1940.
Moore Park, located on Pioneer Ave in Brookline, opened in 1933. The park was named after Joseph F. Moore, a long-time principal and advocate for the park.
In March of 1939, City Council passed Ordinance 137 approving eight PWA projects, including the Moore Park Pool and Bathouse, which was designated as PWA project No. PA 1634.

Custodial History
The time capsule was sealed on Feb. 12, 1940 and recovered by contractors during renovations to the building in February 2023.
